Umdoni House is situated 500 meters from the sea amid tall trees on a hill overlooking more than an acre of lush sub-tropical gardens - a secluded tranquil setting in the heart of the South Coast, the Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom, Umtentweni.

Enjoy breakfast or sundowners at treetop level next to the sparkling swimming pool where there's a view of the Indian Ocean through the trees. Be serenaded by the many multicoloured birds that flit amongst the branches, or entertained by the antics of the vervet monkeys that frequently pay us a call.

All our bedrooms have en-suite or private bathrooms and are tastefully decorated in an unpretentious manner. With your comfort in mind they are equipped with ceiling fans and tea & coffee facilities etc. Limited televisions are available for the rooms as well as a larger television in the public area for those who prefer to watch satellite channels.

For your evening meal you can chose from a variety of restaurants or takeaway outlets close by, enjoy a braai (barbeque) either by the pool or in the seclusion of the garden, or arrange for a meal in our dining room.

Should it be required, we are prepared to book tours, sports facilities or hire cars on your behalf as the choice of daytime entertainment on the KZN South Coast is enough to satisfy every taste:

There are kilometres of beautiful beaches and sandy coves edged with the lacy surf of the blue Indian Ocean and interlinked with lagoons, that vary from extremely popular Blue Flag Beaches with entertainment and other amenities, to deserted pristine beaches where you can walk alone for miles.

For the sports enthusiast we are within easy reach of 10 top class golf courses, two world renowned pe sites, deep sea, surf and river fishing, hiking, mountain biking, abseiling, horse riding and the "softer" sports like tennis, badminton and bowls. Your quest for adventure sports can be rewarded with a bungee swing, white water or ocean power rafting amongst others.

In a quieter mood follow an art and craft trail, consult a Sangoma (witchdoctor) on a township tour, enjoy a river cruise, visit a coffee or butterfly farm, a nature or game reserve or just relax and enjoy the hospitality at Umdoni House where our warm welcome and discreet pampering belie our reasonable rates.
